I was born and raised in Southeast Texas and after a brief stint in Houston made the decision to return to Southeast Texas to pursue my dream of becoming a counselor. I am a graduate of Lamar University with my Bachelor’s in Family Studies and my Master’s in Counseling and Development.
I can remember at a young age wanting to work with kids who were experiencing the transitions of the divorce process and that desire has expanded to a love of helping all individuals’ transition through life’s changes. I began my social service career in 2008 implementing family based prevention programs in local elementary schools. This provided me with the opportunity to work with the entire family unit to help parents identify and build on strengths already in place within the family and help children feel more equipped to face the many challenges that may arise in today’s world. Throughout the years I have had to opportunity to work with a diverse population including child, adolescent and adult survivors of trauma.
I believe in an empowerment based approach to counseling in which I help clients to find their own inner power and strength. Each person is the expert of their situation, I am available to help guide you through the journey. I have experience with individuals as well as groups working with multiple issues including anxiety, depression, self-worth, trauma, grief and anger.
When not at the office you can find me trying to keep up with my energetic 2 and 3 year olds and anticipating what adventure awaits me at home with my black lab Wyatt also known affectionately as Marley. (See Marley and Me for a glimpse!) I also love delving into my creative side and integrate that into the counseling process. I have a love of party planning and trying new Pinterest recipes and projects.
