A quote by Dr. Seuss sums up my approach to counseling stating “sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” My goal is to help each client achieve a more functional level of mental well-being in order to gain some insight and ultimately peace in their mental health.
My approach is person centered therapy with solution focused and cognitive behavioral techniques. I want to make the therapy experience as straightforward and enjoyable as possible while implanting the skills necessary to address the different concerns children, adolescents, and adults face daily. My goal is to help clients build the skills needed to improve their mental health and overall well-being. The work we do together is to help the client learn to face issues with tools that will allow them to accomplish their goals.
I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. I completed my professional internship primarily working with children/ adolescents and their families as well as adults with varying degrees of mental illness and issues with their mental and behavioral health. I have experience working with a range of ages and families helping them to address the needs and struggles of both the clients and their support.
Kids and adolescents are at important ages of transition in their development which can sometimes be difficult to navigate through especially on their own. I work with them and their families to help guide them to learning more appropriate ways to address the concerns they are experiencing. I also work on targeting problems revolving around inappropriate behaviors being exhibited by working with the client, child or adult, to target any undesirable behaviors and guide them to learning how to better manage the behaviors in their daily lives.
